CODE OF CONDUCT
True North Volleyball Club | TNVC
Our Commitment
True North Volleyball Club | TNVC is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, respectful, and positive environment for all athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers, parents, and spectators. Everyone involved with TNVC is expected to uphold high standards of behaviour that reflect integrity, fairness, and sportsmanship both on and off the court.
We believe volleyball should build confidence, character, teamwork, and lifelong respect for sport.
This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals involved in TNVC activities, including:
Athletes
Coaches and instructors
Staff and volunteers
Parents/guardians
Officials and spectators
It covers behaviour during practices, games, tournaments, travel, meetings, and any TNVC-related events, as well as conduct outside of activities when it may impact the club’s reputation or environment.
Expectations
All TNVC participants are expected to:
Treat others with respect, dignity, and fairness
Promote a positive and supportive sport environment
Follow all TNVC policies, rules, and applicable laws
Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times
Avoid discrimination, harassment, bullying, or abuse of any kind
Respect personal boundaries and appropriate relationships
Protect the safety and well-being of all participants
Care for facilities, equipment, and property
TNVC has zero tolerance for violence, intimidation, or harmful behaviour.
Athlete Responsibilities
Athletes are expected to:
Attend practices and competitions prepared and on time
Show respect to teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents
Follow team rules and instructions
Use appropriate language and behaviour
Play fairly and honestly
Take responsibility for their health and well-being
Coach Responsibilities
Coaches hold a position of trust and leadership. They must:
Put athlete safety and development first
Provide age-appropriate training and supervision
Foster a positive and respectful team culture
Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes and parents
Never abuse authority or power
Maintain appropriate boundaries at all times
Act as positive role models on and off the court
Parent/Guardian & Spectator Responsibilities
Parents, guardians, and spectators are expected to:
Encourage effort, learning, and enjoyment of the sport
Support all athletes, not just their own child
Respect coaches’ decisions and officials’ calls
Avoid negative comments, aggressive behaviour, or confrontations
Promote good sportsmanship and teamwork
Prohibited Behaviour
The following will not be tolerated at TNVC:
Bullying, harassment, or discrimination
Physical, emotional, or verbal abuse
Inappropriate relationships or boundary violations
Cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct
Use of drugs, alcohol, or harmful substances during TNVC activities
Any conduct that puts others at risk or damages the club’s reputation
Consequences
Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
Warnings
Suspension from activities
Removal from the program
Further action as deemed necessary by TNVC leadership
