building skills. building community

True North Volleyball Club (TNVC) is a community-based youth volleyball club in Fort McMurray created to bring kids together through fun, movement, and skill development. With limited local options for young athletes to learn and enjoy volleyball in a welcoming, low-pressure environment, TNVC was founded to fill that gap — giving children ages 5–14 the opportunity to grow, stay active, and build confidence while having fun.

Our club offers programs for both boys and girls of all experience levels, focusing on strong fundamentals, teamwork, and positive coaching. Rather than elite competition, we prioritize enjoyment, community connection, and long-term development — creating a strong foundation before athletes move on to higher-level programs if they choose.

True North Volleyball Club is proud to serve the Fort McMurray community by promoting healthy lifestyles, friendship, and a lifelong love of sport.

mission

At True North Volleyball Club, our mission is to create accessible and joyful volleyball opportunities for children in the Fort McMurray community, especially where youth sport options are limited. We are dedicated to providing a safe, supportive and encouraging environment where both boys and girls of all skill levels can learn, play, and grow.

Through fun-focused programming and positive coaching, we help young athletes develop fundamental volleyball skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love for being active. Our goal is not only to teach the game, but to build self-belief, friendships, and healthy habits that last beyond the court.

True North Volleyball Club exists to bring the community together, remove barriers to participation, and ensure every child has the opportunity to experience the joy of sport.

vision

Our vision is to grow a strong and inclusive volleyball community in Fort McMurray where every child has the opportunity to play, learn, and thrive — regardless of experience level. We strive to be the leading foundation of youth volleyball in the region by creating programs that are fun, affordable, and focused on long-term development rather than pressure or competition.

True North Volleyball Club envisions a future where children build confidence, friendships, leadership skills, and healthy lifestyles through sport. By fostering positive coaching, teamwork, and a love for being active, we aim to inspire lifelong participation in volleyball and open pathways for athletes to progress into competitive programs if they choose — while always keeping fun at the heart of the game.

I was born and raised in Serbia, where my love for volleyball began at the age of seven. From the moment I first stepped onto the court, I knew the sport would become a meaningful part of my life. As a young athlete, I dreamed of challenging myself beyond my comfort zone and one day playing volleyball at the college level abroad.

My passion for coaching also began early. In Serbia, I worked with children ages 7 to 12, and that experience had a lasting impact on me. It showed me how important a coach’s role can be — not only in teaching skills, but also in building confidence, shaping character, and helping young athletes believe in themselves.

In 2018, I moved to Fort McMurray on my own with one suitcase and a lot of courage. It is a place I am proud to now call home. This community has given me so much, and giving back has become one of my greatest passions.

To me, volleyball is more than just a sport. It is where lifelong friendships are formed, confidence is built, and essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, patience, and resilience are developed. The lessons I gained through volleyball shaped not only the athlete I became, but also the person I am today.

I graduated from Keyano College, where I had the privilege of playing for the Keyano Women’s Volleyball Team. During that time, I continued to grow both on and off the court. Through coaching, mentoring, and involvement in the local sports community, I began to recognize a gap in the community — there are limited opportunities for youth in the Wood Buffalo region to develop and explore the sports they love.

That realization inspired me to establish my own volleyball club for boys and girls. My goal is to create a positive, supportive, and motivating environment where young athletes can learn, grow, and feel a true sense of belonging — whether they are new to the sport or have big dreams, just as I once did.

I look forward to welcoming your child onto the court and being part of their volleyball journey.
